WHO Launches Wheelchair Service Training Package

The World Health Organization's Wheelchair Service Training Package: Basic Level was launched on June 30, 2012 at the RESNA Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. This training package is intended to develop the minimum skills and knowledge required by personnel involved in wheelchair service delivery. WHO, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has initiated the development of a Wheelchair Service Training Package for different levels of personnel. The first in this series of guides, Wheelchair Service Training Package: Basic Level, was released after extensive expert consultations, field trials and an expert review. Following the launch at the RESNA conference, WHO in partnership with USAID and Management Sciences for Health (MSH) held a training of 25 experts from 18 different countries workshop July 4-8 in Washington, DC.
