Review: WiVox

Product Information

Manufacturer: WiVik (Bloorview MacMillan Centre)

Reviewed by: Karen C. Oshiro from Mililani , Hawaii

Why did you purchase the product?
I made the recommendations for clients with weak, garbled, or no speech due to strokes, Parkinsons or brain injury to communicate. This software is easy to use and install on laptops and PC as a communication device. This is a synthesized voice output with different voices for males and females. I am also working on email and Internet access for these clients.

How well did the product meet your needs?
It met my needs 98% of the time. Names and street names are difficult with Hawaiian or Oriental names in Hawaii. It is possible to get the correct pronounciation by spelling words differently.

Are there specific features of the product that you liked?
Each letter, word, sentence, or document can be spoken according to your needs. This provides immediate feedback and can also be used for dyslexia.

Are there specific features of the product that you disliked?
Pronounciations of foreign words.

Any other comments about the product's performance?
Performance is good and I usually recommend a Pentium computer for dependability.
