Review: 3R80 Prosthetic Knee

Product Information

Manufacturer: Otto Bach

Reviewed by: Name withheld by request.

Why did you purchase the product?
It was the most affordable option that suited my requirements - I'm a through knee amputee with a foreshortened femur.

How well did the product meet your needs?
Fantastically.

Are there specific features of the product that you liked?
I enjoyed the variable swing and being able to take resistance down to a minimum for more active use. Also, I like the fact it is pretty hard-wearing.

Are there specific features of the product that you disliked?
I cannot change my worn "brushes" as I need to. There is what looks like a copper brush (or possibly sleeve over a pin?) that goes through the knee below the pivoting section. I'm not sure as to its function, but I do know that with a year's wear, it has worn to a state where the knee now rocks laterally, thus below the knee is moving independently to the socket above. It was fixed when it was last serviced and now needs replacing again.

Any other comments about the product's performance?
