Families of Children Under Stress
FOCUS provides emotional, informational, and physical support to parents of children in Georgia with disabilities or with ongoing medical needs. FOCUS families deal with a variety of developmental delays, including rare syndromes, cerebral palsy, heart problems, immune deficiencies, and neurological involvement. FOCUS provides a network of parents who share common experiences with each other.

Parents Place of Maryland
The Parents' Place of Maryland is a non-profit family-centered organization. Its sole purpose is to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. It is the Maryland Parent Training and Information Center funded under IDEA. Through the Parent Educators, who are all parents of children with disabilities or chronic illnesses, the Parents' Place provides assistance to families on issues related to their child's disability, particularly about special education. The parent educators support and educate families on their rights in special education. They provide training in their local regions through a series of workshops geared for parents. The Parents' Place also assists parents with health care related issues for their children with disabilities, and it is designated as the State's Family-to-Family Health Information and Education center. A calendar of upcoming workshops is available on the Web site.

"NAMI West Virginia is the voice for the families of those persons with a serious mental illness. Those families in turn are very often the voice for those who are too ill to speak for themselves.
NAMI WV is the statewide non-profit, tax-exempt organization of family support advocacy groups comprised of twelve affiliates across the Mountain State. These local groups offer understanding, encouragement and mutual support to all who are faced with a serious and persistent mental illness of loved ones. Those with a mental illness are also encouraged to join the organization. It is an affiliate of NAMI, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, in Arlington, Virginia. The focus of the state group is on education, support, and advocacy."

The Center is a private non-profit organization serving children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing throughout Wisconsin. Activities include Sign Language classes, after-school youth activities, parent education, audiology services, Auditory-Verbal Therapy, aural rehabilitation, and cochlear implant training. The CommunicationLink program provides interpreter coordination services and the UniversaLink program offers a wide range of assistive technology for people with hearing loss.
