Client Assistance Programs Information Center

The Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System and Client Assistance Program (CAP) comprise the nationwide network of congressionally mandated, legally based disability rights agencies. CAP agencies (many of which are housed within P&A offices) provide information and assistance to individuals seeking or receiving vocational rehabilitation services under the Rehabilitation Act, including assistance in pursuing administrative, legal and other appropriate remedies.

Organizations

  1. National Assistive Technology Advocacy Project
    Funded through a grant from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), this project provides nationwide support services to Protection and Advocacy (P&A) and Client Assistance Program attorneys and advocates, as well as Legal Services and private attorneys who are working on AT advocacy issues. The project's web site features downloadable booklets on funding AT through Social Security, SSI (Supplementatl Security Income), Medicare, Medicaid, vocational rehabilitation, and the public schools' special education system.   2. National Disability Rights Network (formerly the National Association of Protection and Advocacy Systems, Inc.)
    The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.
