(Verified 02/2013) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. ---BoardMaker International is a symbolic communicator computer program designed to access over 3,000 symbols contained in the Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) Books I, II, and III (see separate entry) for use by persons who communicate nonvocally. The program features a cut and paste system that allows the user to select and paste communication symbols on any software program that accepts symbols. The symbols may be reduced or enlarged to any size. Symbols up to 4 inches in size may be used in conjunction with a compatible desktop publishing program to create worksheets, picture instruction sheets, journals, posters, and bulletin boards. Hard copies of the displays may be printed and saved to disk (see your computer software retailer for compatibility information). Additional features include a language translator, which allows the user to find and display symbols without necessarily knowing the language which the symbol is being translated into. Languages currently included are English, Spanish, French (Canadian), Portuguese, Danish, Swedish, German, Dutch, Norwegian and Italian. A program manual and assorted pre-made blank grids and a drawing program are included with the software. COMPATIBILITY: Macintosh and IBM Windows.
