To open a jar, the jar is placed on the turntable of the unit and the upper body of the unit is lowered to fit securely on the lid. Pressing the handle down causes the turntable to rotate, loosening the jar lid. The unit handles jars up to 8 inches high and up to 4.5 inches in diameter.
