  1. DELUXE VARI TONE RINGERS

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 06/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Vari-Tone Ringers are signal amplifiers designed to alter a telephone's signal to a clear, distinct pitch to assist persons with hearing disabilities hear the phone. The deluxe models feature a standard 6-foot hard wired line cord and an integral modular jack for easy installation. There are three audio frequency ranges, each of which can be further tuned by turning an exposed knurled knob. The CPE Vari-Tone Ringers also include a four position On/Off Volume Control that enables the user to silence the ringer or select a minimum sound level outputs of 70, 80, or 90 decibels. FREQUENCY: Tone output frequencies, in nominal/minimum/maximum order, are 1250/1062/1438 Hz (model 100135), 500/425/575 Hz (model 100137), and 2000/1700/2500 Hz (model 100139). POWER: Operating voltage is 40 to 150 Volts AC, 16 to 66 Hz. DIMENSIONS (LxWxD): 4 5/8 x 3 x 1 5/8 inches.

  2. TEL-EASE & TEL-EASE WITH BACKTALK

(Verified 06/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Tel-Ease is an amplifier telephone with large push buttons designed for use by persons with hearing disabilities and/or low vision. A thumbwheel controls the volume of a caller's voice in stepless adjustments up to 10 times the standard telephone level (20 decibels maximum). This amplification only enhances the caller's voice; background noise is suppressed. The ringer loudness adjusts from off to low to high, and a tone control sets the ringer in a audible range selected by the user. A red indicator light also flashes with each ring to visually signal an incoming call. This hearing-aid compatible phone also features an audio jack, a recall key for 10-number memory, a last-number redial key, and a store-pulse-tone switch for pre-setting one-number calling and adapting the phone to local central office equipment. The keypad features large numbers, and braille coding makes key 5 a reference point. Tel-Ease with Backtalk offers the same features plus a digital speech synthesizer that speaks back the numbers as they are dialed. INSTALLATION: The Tel-Ease is designed for free-standing installation on a desk, countertop, or table; or for wall-mounting with or without an RJ-11W jack. DIMENSIONS: The numbers are one-inch tall. COLOR: White console with black numbers on white background. WARRANTY: Two years.

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 07/96) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- BackTalk is a voice output dialing aid designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This synthesized dialing response system turns all phones into talking phones by providing voice output repeating the digit just dialed. It plugs into an electrical outlet and a telephone jack, and is compatible with any telephone (tone, rotary, and most pulse-dialing types at both 10 and 20 PBS). Other features include an on/off volume control and a high quality digital voice synthesizer that is compatible with all handset amplifiers.
