  1. BUDDY SYSTEM WHEELCHAIR SWING AWAY LAP TABLE

    ---DISCONTINUED. (VERIFIED 01/1994) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE.--- The Buddy System Wheelchair Swing Away Lap Table is a lapboard designed for supporting a lap top computer or communication device with straps to either side of a wheelchair. The tray locks in all positions, and mounts to the wheelchair frame with a clamp. OPTIONS: An overbed stand is available.

  1. GEWA INFRALINK WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM.

    -- DISCONTINUED. VERIFIED 7/2012. RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. -- Wireless remote control system. Uses infrared signals, for installation inside or outside. Rooms can be equipped with intercom and relay unit to be controlled by the same INFRALINK transmitter. Can be used for various environmental control functions including door opening, speakers, appliances, call, service attention in public places, elevator, and van or car lift. Variety of transmitters and receivers available, with 1 to 8 functions, plus detectors, and delay units.

  2. JOUSE (JOYSTICK-OPERATED MOUSE) Picture of JOUSE (JOYSTICK-OPERATED MOUSE)

(Verified 4/2001) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- JOUSE (Joystick-operated Mouse) is a joystick-controlled mouse emulator designed to be operated either by chin movement or with the mouth by people who are quadriplegic. Moving the joystick results in cursor movement on the screen; the farther the joystick is moved, the faster the cursor moves. Mouse button functions are accomplished using a built-in sip-and-puff switch. Keyboard functions are achieved via the on-screen keyboard or morse code. The adjustable JOUSE arm mounts on a table or desktop, and it swings away when bumped. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A Microsoft or Logitech mouse driver is required. OPTIONS: A multi-user pack with additional sip-and-puff tubes and other disposable components is available.

  3. SCANNING DIRECTOR

(Verified 2/2005) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Scanning Director is an infrared environmental control switch module designed to permit persons with disabilities to operate televisions, VCRs, stereos, CD players, and other appliances by activating either a single or dual switch. The user scans through the menu of options on the back-lit display and activates the switch to send a signal. The unit has emitters on both the top and the back, giving it a wide range of positioning options. When using optional mounts, the unit may be mounted to a bed or a wheelchair. OPTIONS: POWERMID remote extender ($95).

The user selects appliances and control functions completely through voice commands, and can also train and re-train the system through voice control alone. Additional lamp and appliance modules may be added to the basic unit. The equipment works through standard house wiring, and operates up to an hour on battery backup in case of power failure.

A computer interface allows the user to connect it to any IBM compatible computer offering full control of the keyboard. Word prediciton software is provided to enhance typing speed.
