  1. SPEECH SPECTROPHONICS DISPLAY (MODEL SSD II)

    --- DISCONTINUED. RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The SSD II is a visible speech display that instantly shows broad band spectrograms on a TV screen and freezes them for analysis. The instrument provides a two channel, split screen display of 2 independently recorded video spectrograms. Frequency range, linear scale, 50 to 5,000 hz with microphone supplied. Analyzing filter band width, switch selectable 450 hz and 600 hz. Standard for display of women and children's voices. Inputs, one microphone, one external with input control. Mark II memory has zoom control that can be switched to magnify the videospectrogram as much as 6 to 1, useful for research and teaching applications. Time measurements can be made directly from the TV screen with an accuracy of 1 to 2 milliseconds. Resolution, more than 1,000 horizontal points across the TV screen. Timescale, two switch selectable, .75 or 1.5 seconds across the screen, for a full screen display of a few syllables or longer phrases. Power requirements, 115 volts, 60 hz, less than 250 watts, 230 volts, 50 hz optional. Dimensions. Processing unit, 6.2 by 19.7 by 18 inches. Memory, 3.5 by 16.9 by 17.5 inches. TV monitor, 16.2 by 16.2 by 12 inches. Weight, 125 pounds.

  2. SPEECH SPECTROPHONICS DISPLAY (MODEL SSD III)

    --- DISCONTINUED. RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The specifications of SSD III are the same as in the model SSD II (see separate entry). SSD III provides video spectrograms of equal quality to SSD I, 2 X instruments. The SSD III memory does not have a zoom capability. Resolutions, 512 points across the TV screen. Timescales, three, switch selectable, .5, 1, or 2 seconds across the screen. Power requirements, 115 volts, 60 hz, less than 150 watts, 230 volts, 50 hz optional. Options: frequency lines, video hard copy units, 300 hz analyzing filter, dual microphone mixer with switchable agc, lightweight boom mounted microphone, and microphone headsets, amplification. Dimensions: processing unit, 6.2 by 19.7 by 18 inches. Memory 7 by 16 by 10 inches. TV monitor, 11 by 16.2 by 12 inches. Weight, 90 pounds.
