The AbleNet Bookworm Literacy Tool is a voice output reading machine designed for use by children with cognitive, severe physical, or vision disabilities. To use the unit, which works with most books and worksheets, the reading material is clipped to the BookWorm unit and the book is adapted with the included stickers and page detectors. Each page is recorded on the included memory module. Reading is activated by pressing the activation area or using the attached single switch (switch not included). The AirLink Cordless Switch is a touch switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. Animal Habitats is a fully inclusive academic tutorial program designed to enhance language, reading, writing, speech, and cognitive skills for children in primary grades with developmental and physical disabilities. This collection of educational activities features a range of integrated support materials to effectively use the computer as a whole language tool in the classroom. This program uses an original story to introduce users to five habitats: the jungle, the desert, the grasslands, the mountains, and the Arctic. Students follow the story on the computer and then explore each habitat. The program includes more than 20 software activitiesthat teach phonics, language comprehension, and animal facts; an original storybook, and a corresponding overlay; five environments, each with a separate overlay for accessing animated computer activities; and a Teacher's Resource Guide with extension activities and blackline masters. Software activities include Animal Facts, Who Am I? (comprehension), Silly Rhymes (reinforces initial sounds and rhyming), Listen to the Sounds (introduces initial sounds), and Read (replays text as often as desired). Selecting a color fills in the designated area on the screen and the name of each color is announced as it is selected. The completed pictures can be printed. Creature Chorus Sterling Edition is single switch program designed to introduce the concepts of cause and effect, turn taking, visual tracking, discrete pointing, and use of a single switch for individuals with developmental, physical, or visual disabilities. The program offers nine games for use with a single switch, touch screen, or the space bar. Eight animated characters introduce the concepts of cause and effect, switch use, visual tracking, discrete pointing, and turn taking. Games range from very basic to challenging. An example of the single switch games is "Songfest," where creatures appear one at a time when a switch or the touch screen is activated. Once all the creatures are present, each switch activation causes them to perform a dance that continues until the next switch activation. A new arrangement is then created and repeated. Discover:Kenx (pronounced "connects") is a keyboard interface designed to enable individuals with upper extremity, severe physical, or cognitive disabilities to access a computer using a choice of methods other than a standard keyboard. This device plugs directly into the keyboard port and enables customization for multiple users; the system remembers user preferences and automatically selects the appropriate set-ups. For example, one or two switches can be connected for scanning access, Key Largo (see separate entry) can be connected for alternative keyboard access, and a joystick or other mouse alternative can be connected for use with an onscreen keyboard.The system includes the intergace box; cable; software set-ups for all access methods; speech output with a choice of voices to meet the user's auditory processing needs; a graphics library and recorded sounds in male and female voices for set-up customization; five moisture-proof overlays; and Discover:Create for set-up customization. The Flex Switch is squeeze switch designed for use by individuals with limited upper limb mobility. It is a single switch operated by bending the flexible rubber tip 0.5 inches in any direction, with an activating force of 6.5 ounces. The switch provides tactile and auditory feedback. The Flex Switch comes mounted on an angled metal rod to facilitate positioning. The rubber tip can be removed and rotated. It can be mounted on a wheelchair or table. INTELLIKEYS
IntelliKeys is a modified and expanded keyboard for children and adults with visual, physical or cognitive disabilities. The standard system includes one cable and six plastic user overlays, (arrows, numbers, alphabet, basic writing, QWERTY, and one setup overlay used to adjust IntelliKeys for specials needs such as keyboard response and repeat rate). The overlays enable users to access standard learning software and are easy to see, touch and understand. Overlay Maker is a keytop overlay creator designed for use with IntelliKeys (see separate entry). Available for Macintosh ($69.95) or Windows ($99.95), this software program enables users to create their own customized overlay keyboard by drawing the overlay on the screen and designing key size, location, colors and pictures. Keys can be created in any shape or location with letters, phrases, pictures, mouse movements, mouse clicks, or special IntelliTool settings. SINGLE SWITCH LATCH AND TIMER (SLAT)
The Single Switch Latch and Timer (SLAT) is a combination switch latch and switch timer unit designed to enable individuals with upper extremity disabilities to control one battery-operated toy, game, or appliance. This unit offers a choice of functions: In switch latch mode, one touch activates the device and the next turns it off. In timer mode, the timer can be set to activate the device for a set number of seconds or minutes. When the time on the timer expires, the device turns off.

SLIM ARMSTRONG MOUNTING SYSTEM
The Slim Armstrong Mounting System is a mounting system for communication devices or switches that can be attached to wheelchairs, bed frames, tables or trays for activities at home, school, work and in the community. The device has a slender, telescoping arm that holds up to 5 pounds. The system includes the following components: a clamp for anchoring on most curved or flat surfaces, a ball joint, a flexor rod with built-in ball joint, a telescoping arm, and a small triangular mounting plate. Speaking Dynamically and Speaking Dynamically Pro are symbolic communicator, direct selection communicator, and scanning symbol communicator programs designed for making customized, multi-level, picture or word communication boards with speech output. These programs may be used as tools for teaching cause and effect, switches, scanning, symbol training, phrase and sentence structure, spelling, word prediction, or reading activities. As assessment tools, these programs can evaluate augmentative communication needs, the best mode of access for an individual, the best method of training and practice, and the device requirements most beneficial for the individual user. The user designs the activities and decides what actions will occur when a picture is selected. Selecting a picture can activate speech, change screens, or both activate speech and change screens. The final result is a dynamic changing display of multiple screens. A picture may be selected using many different access methods. Using the Speaking Dynamically programs in conjunction with the Mayer-Johnson BoardMaker program (see separate entry) provides access to the more than 3,000 Picture Communication Symbols in the PCS Books I, II, and III. STANDARD AND CUSTOM KEYGUARDS FOR INTELLIKEYS
The Standard and Custom Keyguards are keyguards designed to be used with IntelliKeys (see separate entry) for children with physical disabilities. The keyguards are designed to help the user make accurate choices by preventing unintentional keystrokes and providing stability for the user. The Standard Keyguards are made of clear acrylic and are available for each of the standard Intellikeys overlays ( Alphabet, Numbers, Arrows, Basic Writing, Apple QWERTY, and IBM QWERTY). To use the keyguard, the appropriate overlay is placed on the IntelliKeys unit and the keyguard placed on top. The lock-on design keeps it in position. The Custom Keyguards are designed for use with custom IntelliKeys overlays. These plastic keyguards are available in eight layouts and are sold in sets of four. Set 1 includes four keyguards with 2, 3, 4, and 6 holes; Set 2 includes four keyguards with 9, 12, 15 and 20 holes. STAR SWITCH (MODEL 50260)
The Star Switch, model 50260, is a touch switch designed for use byindividuals with severe physical or upper extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury. This switch can be used with any device that requires five single switches for operation, or it can be adapted to form five single or mono switch plugs for controlling any five devices operated by a single switch (additional hardware is required). The Star switch contains five mechanical switches arranged in the shape of a plus sign. Five colored stickers are provided to distinguish between the switches. STRING SWITCH
The String Switch is a pull switch designed for use by people with very limited upper extremity range of motion or minimal strength. The switch consists of a pull cord attached to a microswitch box. To activate the switch, the user pulls on a string or strand of yarn attached to the pull cord. The switch is equipped with a 1/8-inch mono plug. The string/yarn may be wrapped around any moveable body part. Less than 1 ounce of pressure is required for activation. SWIM, SWAM, SWUM: MASTERING IRREGULAR VERBS
Swim, Swam, Swum: Mastering Irregular Verbs is a language and reading tutorial program with optional voice output and alternate access designed to train over 200 high-frequency irregular verbs in their present, past, and past perfect forms for individuals with language learning, developmental, physical, or hearing disabilities, or autism. Accessibility is available through a keyboard, touch screen, single switch or mouse. There are four verb training activities. The first trains 30 early developing verbs using animated pictures. The second offers training on 108 of the most common irregular verbs in a multiple-choice format in which both the verb forms and the sentences are read aloud to the student. The third activity is available for all of the more than 200 verbs. It trains in a format similar to the second activity, but only the verbs have the speech option. The last activity requires students to spell the various irregular verb forms. In all activities there are teacher choices to set interface, level of difficulty, speech and/or text options, response time, and reinforcement animation. TACTION PADS
The Taction Pads are touch switches designed to adhere to any surface or object for individuals who have limited upper mobility or movement. These pads are clear, touch-sensitive plastic patches that have an adhesive back and are designed to activate any device that it is plugged into them simply by touching them. When the Taction Pad is plugged into one of Adaptivation's assistive devices (see separate entries), it activates that device by touch (moisture) or by the use of conductive foam (sold separately). Taction Pads were designed to operate specifically with Adaptivation's touch-activated devices, and will not work with other assistive devices or adapted toys unless accompanied by the LinkSwitch (see separate entry). Talk:About is a direct selection communicator program designed to help structure conversations and initiate original discussions on any topic for persons with speaking disabilities. The program consists of three components (Quick:Chat, Story:Talk and Story:Panel) that are designed to allow the user to fully participate in conversations. With text-to-speech output and digitized voice modes for speaking, the user is able to chat with friends, share ideas at work or tell a story at school with the help of a mouse, keyboard keys or Ke:nx switch-use to activate the function keys. This computer program is constructed for ideal use with PowerBook and desktop computers. Each component program is designed with several features: Quick:Chat offers the user quick access to common communication phrases (i.e. "How are you?"); Story:Panel is the toolbar across the top of Talk:About's layout and offers the user retrieval capabilities (i.e. phrases, ideas etc.) for keeping conversations and stories moving along; Story:Talk is a database designed to maintain bodies of information (up to several pages in length) containing text about events, experiences and opinions. TALKTIME WITH TUCKER
Talk Time with Tucker is a speech training program designed to encourage children with with language learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, visual disabilities or autism to practice a variety of vocalization skills and to experiment with the duration, pitch, and volume of their utterances. The program not only encourages expressive verbalization, it fosters conversation turn-taking and builds imagination and confidence. It features voice activated animation routines, colorful scenes, high- quality speech output, and accessibility with a microphone, keyboard or single switch. When the child speaks into the microphone, Tucker moves and talks; this program accepts a broad range of sounds and or speech. The single-switch option provides the opportunity to work with non-vocal students. The TFH Swing Seats are swing accesories for children or adults with physical or neurological disabilities. These swing seats are designed of high density polyehtylene plastic with a pommel, four straps, and a shoulder harness with snap buckles. The straps are adjustable, as is the rake of the seat. Sentence Master: A Program for Success in Reading Level 1 is a language and reading tutorial program designed to increase reading comprehension, foster independent reading and facilitate classroom inclusion for children and adults with language learning, developmental, or hearing disabilities, or autism. This program is useful for teaching reading skills to students who have difficulty with phonics or oral language, or who have impulsive learning styles and for teaching English as a second language. Scan speed and response time are adjustable. A lesson summary of each activity may be read on-screen or printed. This program consists of eight stories, each with its own workbook and reproducible story booklet with written exercises. Thinkin' Things Collection 2 is a perceptual training program designed to help students build higher level thinking skills for children who have a learning disability. It is designed to help students learn to read and write rhymes and recognize symbol/sound relationships. There are also games to develop their memory, listening and observation skills. There are five challenging activities with "real" world settings in which to solve problems. In "Stocktopus," students make trades with stock brokers all over the world. In "Half Time," students begin learning computer programming skills as software engineers. "Fripple Place" allows students to become detectives to solve the Case of the Empty Fripple House. "Carving BLOX" and "Photo Twister" lets students strengthen creativity and visual thinking as they experiment with photographic images and basic physics properties. Thinkin Things 3 includes "Grow Slides" that control the difficulty level and automatically increases the level as students succeed in each activity. It also has built in scanning options for single switch input and has been designed to take full advantage of input using the TouchWindow (see separate entry). TIP SWITCH
The Tip Switch is a mercury switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. Designed to be activated by tipping the switch five degrees from the horizontal position, no activation force is required and only a very small range of motion is required. It has a smooth surface to allow easy mounting/positioning on a finger, hand, arm, headband, eyeglasses, etc. The switch provides no tactile or auditory feedback. TOUCHWINDOW
The TouchWindow is a touch screen designed to provide computer access for individuals who are unable to use a mouse or who have cognitive or learning disabilities. When this touch screen is connected to a computer, touching an on-screen object or word with a finger or stylus will generate input to the computer. This enables users to concentrate on the learning task because there are no intermediate steps or devices to interfere with their attention. Selection of commands, composition of graphics, and other functions can be performed. It can also be used as a switch by setting it flat on a table or wheelchair tray. TOY CABLES (MODELS 4378 & 4379)
Toy cables, models 4378 and 4379, are battery interface controls for toys designed to turn battery operated toys and appliances into switch activated toys and appliances for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities. One end of the cable is placed between the battery and the battery connector in the battery compartment. The other end of the cable has a 1/8 inch miniature jack for single switch. There are two types: Model 4378 is 6 feet long for AA and C size batteries; Model 4379 is 6 feet long for D size batteries. For longer cable length use a 4333 switch extension cable.

TREADLE SWITCH (MODEL 58800)
The Treadle Switch, model 58800, is a rocker switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. The switch can be used as a floor/foot switch or on a tabletop and is activated by pressing the hinged top surface from a specific angle. This switch enables the user to rest the body part used for activation on the switch's surface between activations. Activation requires 25 ounces of force and 0.2 inch of travel. Tactile and auditory feedback are provided. DIMENSIONS: 3.5 x 2.5 x 1 inches. WEIGHT: 5 ounces.

UNIVERSAL SWITCH MOUNTING SYSTEM
The Universal Switch Mounting System is switch mounting hardware designed to allow quick and easy placement of a switch in any position. The hardware, including a large triangular base plate, clamps onto a wheelchair or tableand holds up to five pounds. The system offers a choice of a single-lever control or a knob control to lock all joints in place. OPTIONS: An Extension Package for the Universal Switch Mounting System is also available; this package includes three sturdy extension rods and a swivel attachment to add six, nine, or 12 inches to the mounting system extension. WAFER SWITCH (MODEL 50180)
The Wafer Switch, model 50180, is a touch switch designed with five membrane switches in one low-profile housing designed for use by individuals with gross motor skill use and a large range of motion. This switch is a multiple switch used to control any device that requires five single switches for operation, such a as a wheelchair or a communication aid. It may also be used to control up to five separate devices which are operated with a single switch. This switch has five large, slightly recessed membrane switches, each marked with a different direction for cursor control or joystick emulation. WORDS & CONCEPTS I
Words & Concepts I is a language and vocabulary tutorial program designed to enrich vocabulary, strengthen language comprehension, increase understanding of word relationships and encourage concept development for individuals with developmental, cognitive, physical, visual, hearing, and language learning disabilities, and autism. The program offers the following activities using a 40 noun core vocabulary and pictures, usually at three levels of difficulty: Vocabulary, Categorization, Word Identification by Function, Word Association, Concept-Same/Alike, and Concept-Different. Scan speed, response time, and criterion for ending the lesson can be adjusted. COMPATIBILITY: For use with Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The version for IBM and compatible computers requires a Pentium 133 megaHertz (MHz) or faster processor; a hard drive with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP or later; 16 megabytes (MB)RAM; a Windows compatible sound card; and a 4x speed CD drive. WRITE:OUTLOUD
Write: Outloud is a voice output word processor program designed to speak letters, words, sentences and paragraphs in order to enhance user writing quality for children with low vision or severe physical or cognitive disabilities. This program reads each word as it is typed for consistent auditory feedback, and it can also reads any electronic text, enabling students tp research and present reports. Included imported graphics can also be used to prompt and support writing with the "get picture button," and on-screen tools enable the user to work without using menus. On-screen highlighting as the text is read enables the student to connect the spoken words with the written words. As the program speaks letters, words, and sentences, students can self-correct their own work. The built-in talking Franklin Dictionary and Homonym Checker recognizes phonetic spelling of irregular words and homonyms ansd easily confused words. Concise definitioons of the homonyms or confused words are provided to enable the user to select the correct word. The program also offers basic formating capabilities such as centering, indenting, and left or right text alignment. COMPATIBILITY: CD-ROM with versions for use on Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The Macintosh version requires Macintosh Operating System 7.5.3 or higher, a 68030 or better processor, a minimum of 16 megabytes (MB) RAM, a minimum of 20 MB hard drive space, and a CD-ROM drive.
