FlipperPort consists of two main components: a high resolution color camera that captures the image, and a pair of lightweight glasses that display the magnified image for the user. The glasses provide a bright, crisp image without reflection or glare. The user can control the level of brightness. The image is displayed in full color with a magnification range of 6 to 30 times original size for near objects and 1 to 12 times original size for distance viewing. The rotating digital camera captures and enlarges the image in any position with automatic focus. This magnifier is composed of a hand-held digital magnifier attached to a pair of electronic glasses with built-in screens on which the user can see magnified images up to 28 times the size of the original. The user places the magnifier on a curved or flat surface and then views a virtual image on the glasses. This magnifier can be used to read labels on cans and medicine bottles as well as books, newspapers, and magazines. Users can control the level of magnification and brightness, and select between three different viewing modes (standard, high contrast positive, and high contrast negative).
