Abrakadabra is a cause and effect training program designed for use by children with learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, or upper extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury. This program is designed to help develop visual perception and language skills as well as early switch techniques. In this program, users build up 30 different pictures in stages by pressing a switch, touching a touchscreen, clicking a mouse, or pressing a key on the keyboard. Each time the switch/key/mouse is pressed, more of the image is built up. When the picture is complete, users see sound and animation that continue until the switch/key/mouse is pressed again. The program has three levels of difficulty, from simple graphics to complex scenes, each with ten different scenes to build. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers. BLOB CD FOR WINDOWS
Blob CD for Windows is a cause and effect training program designed use by children with learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, or upper extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury. This program teaches the use of a switch or touchscreen and is a first introduction to computers and switches that features bright, clear graphics, animation, and sound to help switch users to develop their switching and cognitive skills. It can be operated with one or two switches or with a joystick, fire buttons, concept keyboard, or micromike. The program includes simple activities and games with characters called Blob and Spikey: Big Blob, Who is there? Spikey, Where is Spikey? Look who is here, and Going home. The games in this program introduce fundamental cognitive skills, such as selection procedures and making decisions and choices, in a way that will interest and motivate the child.

CHOOSEIT! MAKER 2
ChooseIt! Maker 2 is a lesson authoring program designed to enable teachers of children with learning, cognitive, upper extremity, and fine motor disabilities or spinal cord injury to create customized, switch-accessible choice training programs for their students. This program is similar to SwitchIt! Maker (see separate entry) but is intended to create activities for students who have advanced beyond cause and effect programs and need to begin to make choices. It enables teachers and other users to create choice making activities using their own own images and sound files. For example, the program can be used to create interesting activities in finely graded steps of progression for switch users who need to learn scanning techniques. This music-making software teaches children switch use as they learn to add rhythm to music. Users select a background tune and then add percussion sounds or tune motifs to complement the music. On-screen animation accompanies the music, with new animations appearing when users add drums or other instruments. Many tunes and settings are pre-designed in the program, and the user can add other music files and create new activities. Training activities include trying to hit the switch in time to the rhythm of the music. EARLY MATH WITH SPIDER AND FRIENDS
Early Math with Spider and Friends is a math skills game and tutorial program designed for teaching beginning math to switch users with cognitive or learning disabilities. This program has an assortment of early learning activities that focus on math, including practice in sorting, matching, copying, drawing, and counting. Users select a category, then choose from a group of six activities in that category. Activity choices within each category are similar, so it is easy for users to navigate from one category to the next. A preference menu allows teachers to choose scanning speeds as well as the number of problems in each set. Animated characters Spider and Friends cheer users on when they answer a set correctly. FIRST KEYS
First Keys is a language tutorial program and computer keyboarding instruction program designed for children with learning or cognitive disabilities. It links the development of keyboard awareness to early literacy skills. It is suitable for young children or older pupils with learning difficulties. Users develop keyboard skills through picture matching, letter recognition, word building, and spelling exercises. The location of keys is taught by matching letters with pictures and speech. The program includes word lists, color pictures and symbols, and speech. New word lists can also be defined by the teacher. This program uses pictures, animation, speech, and sound to reinforce successful completion of tasks. Activity screens can be printed to follow-up work away from the computer. When an activity is completed, a simple record sheet can be displayed or printed to use as a reward, or to help monitor progress. The program has seven types of activities: In Picture Match, a picture prompt is used to show the location of a letter key. Matching this to a target picture reveals the letter on the keyboard. In Initial Letter, a letter key is matched to the initial letter of a picture prompt. In Letter Match, a letter on the keyboard is matched to the target letter on the screen. Correct matching causes a picture to be displayed. In Find Keys, a keyboard is displayed on the screen with the letters hidden. The keys are revealed when the initial letter is identified in response to a picture prompt. In Word Building, a word is built sequentially to match the picture prompt. In Missing Letter, the word for the picture prompt is displayed with a missing letter. Users type the missing letter, or select it with the mouse from an on-screen keyboard. In Picture Spell, the Look/Cover/Write method is used to practice spelling. A picture prompt is displayed, with the word spoken if speech is available on the user's computer. Flash Pro 2 is a flash card program designed for use with children with communication, learning, or cognitive disabilities. The program has over 8,500 color photo flash cards that speech therapists, parents, teachers, and early intervention specialists can select, preview, and print for use to stimulate speech and language. The program is designed to be used by individuals with no computer experience, with no complex setup or installation. The photos are arranged in 65 categories, including Actions, Animals, Emotions, Body Parts, Food, Clothing, Flags, Street Signs, Locations, People, Furniture, Vehicles, Colors, and others. A second option allows the picture to be partially hidden by a cloud while users try to identify it. The first switch press gives a sound clue, and the second reveals the picture. The program has three separate activities designed to help students with positional language, understanding of processes, and matching objects to suitable locations. In these activities the users find the spider hiding behind objects in the kitchen while engaging in familiar kitchen activities. Users must name familiar kitchen objects and say where they belong. They must distinguish positions in/on/under, above/below/beside, and in front of/behind objects. The program consists of four different types of exercises to allow users to practice different aspects of reading skills: read the text and answer questions; read the text in stages, as it is revealed sentence by sentence; read the text as it disappears at a speed selected by the user in order to work on reading faster; or read the text with selected keywords hidden. At any stage, the user can listen to the text being read. Users can also record themselves reading aloud for later review. Many texts are included on the program CD, and users can add their own. SWITCHBOARD
The SwitchBoard is a switch adapter for computer designed for use by individuals with fine motor and upper extremity disabilities. This product is a modified keyboard with switch ports to replicate the most commonly used keyboard presses for switches. Switches are plugged into the appropriate ports as needed. There are jacks for enter and space, which are used by most available switch software; 0, 1, 2, and 3, which are used by Don Johnston software; left, up, down, and right, which are used by Clicker and Writing with Symbols; and tab, which can help with moving around in applications. Finally, the mouse keys 2, 4, 6, 8, and 5 are included so the keyboard can send mouse clicks, too. Since every switch press a user could need is incuded, there is no need to program. This product comes with a PS2 connector. An adapter can be used for USB or AT connections. OPTIONS: A metal keyguard is available.

SWITCHBOX
The SwitchBox is a switch adapter for computer designed for use by individuals with upper extremity and fine motor disabilities. The switch adapter plugs into the keyboard port on the computer, and the user can then plug up to eight switches into the switch adapter. Its eight switch ports default to the most commonly used key presses for switch software (Space, Enter, up arrow, left arrow, 0, 1, 2, 3). Software is included that allows the user to program the ports to send alternative key presses, words, sentences, or command strings. This product can also be used as a keyboard splitter. It has two PS2 ports, enabling the user to attach two keyboards, such as a standard keyboard and a modified keyboard, at the same time.

SWITCHIT! ARCADE ADVENTURE
Switchit! Arcade Adventure is a control switch training program designed for use by children with upper extremity and multiple disabilities. Users also build eye-hand coordination as they help Ziko the robot accomplish a series of tasks. Five levels of play allow students to steer a helicopter to rescue Ziko from a tropical island, reload his fuel tank, fly off in his rocket, and maneuver through a series of springs and levers. Users not only click switches to move Ziko, they must also be sensitive to timing. This program may be accessed with a mouse, a single switch, a touch screen, or with Intellikeys (see separate entry). COMPATIBILITY: The hybrid CD-ROM offers versions for use on Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. In this program, the student has to touch or click on colorful shapes to see and hear a reward. The program has three configurable games: touch the shapes or all the shapes; touch the shape when it peeps from behind the edge of the computer screen for a fixed length of time; or touch the correct shape to discriminate a particular shape or color. In this program, users can create a customized on-screen keyboard grid with letters, whole words, or pictures. Users can click on these words or pictures to send the corresponding word to a document in the word processor. Penfriend NA is a word prediction and abbreviation expansion program designed for use by individuals with fine motor, upper extremity, and learning disabilities. This voice output utility program can be used with almost any word processor program. Every time the user types a letter or letters, the program provides a list of the most likely words which fit those letters. The list appears in a new window, with user-selectable text and background colors. The user picks one of these words by pressing a button or clicking with the mouse. The program can read words from prediction lists when the user selects them, or it can read them automatically. The program can also read words as they are typed, and read back whole paragraphs of text from a clipboard. The program includes an on-screen keyboard. New words typed by the user are held in a specially marked list, so that they can be checked for spelling. Users can also choose to have new words used immediately for word prediction. Penfriend XL is a voice output screen reader, text magnifier, and word prediction program designed for use by individuals with dyslexia or low vision. The spoken text is transferred automatically to the clipboard where it can be magnified for users with visual impairments. An icon in the clipboard enables the user to switch the screen reading on and off with a single click. Web pages can be read in a variety of European languages with native voices. The program speaks back text as the user writes. The device can be configured to speak each letter as it is typed, each word as it is completed, or each sentence. It can read words from the prediction list when the user points at them, when they are chosen, or automatically when they change. It can also read back whole paragraphs (or more) of text from other applications using the clipboard. While speaking text from the clipboard, a window can be shown which follows the voice, highlighting each word as it goes. The user can click on a word to hear it again, or to have a fragment of the text spoken. This can be used in conjunction with the screen reader to enlarge and highlight words being read from web pages or the desktop. The program comes with English voices from CereProc (Heather, Sarah, and Katherine), which are installed using the standard SAPI protocol. The program's screen reader can read and highlight alterative spellings, synonyms, and dictionary meanings available in Microsoft Word. PixWriter supports writing using a mouse, keyboard, touch screen, one and two-step switch scanning, joystick and whiteboard. It also includes auditory scanning for people who are blind or have low vison. After selection, the word is written; a picture is automatically paired with that word and the picture is shown as the word is spoken. Tech / Scan 32 and Tech / Scan 32 Plus are direct selection communicators designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. These direct selection communicators can play back 32 separate messages per level on two, four, or six levels. Messages can be scanned in three different modes (Linear, Step, and Row/Column) at three different scan speeds (slow, fast, and medium). The scanning grid provides the user an uninterrupted view of the scanning lights without having to look through a hole in the overlay. This makes changing overlays easy for therapists, family members, and users by eliminating the need to punch holes into the overlays. Tech Scan 32 Plus has an audio prompt (an audible beep) to provide a scanning cue for users with low vision. These direct selection communicators are similar to Tech/Speak 32 (see separate entry), with the addition of scanning and/or audible scanning cues. Messages on both models are spoken in high-quality "Real Voice" audio. Messages are activated by a light touch on the surface of the message cells. Functions are controlled by switches on the back. There is an adjustable on/off volume control and level switch. The devices automatically turn off when not activated after five scanning sweeps, and turn back on with a touch of the user switch. These devices are drop resistant, able to withstand rough handling, such as falling off of a table or being thrown against a wall, and water resistant for easy cleaning, making them hygienic as well as resistant to adverse environmental conditions. UltraStik is a surface anchor designed to anchor switches and other items to flat surfaces. This adhesive is reusable, extra tough and sticky, and easy to see. Stickiness can be restored with soap and water. UltraStik is available in packages of three custom cut circles (one to fit a Jelly Bean Switch and two for the Specs switch; see separate entries), a package of two custom-cut circles for the Jelly Bean Switch), or one rectangle to enable he user to cut adhesive to individual needs. USB SWITCH INTERFACE
The USB Switch Interface is a switch adapter for computer designed for use by individuals with fine motor and upper extremity disabilities. This switch adapter connects from one to five single switch input devices to a computer. It supports industry standard single switch software applications written for one to five single switches. Switches that have a standard 1/8-inch mini-plug fit directly in the jacks on the interface. Switches with plug sizes other than 1/8 inch can be used with an adapter. It allows switches to send space, enter, tab, esc, backspace, up arrow, down arrow, left arrow, right arrow, 1, 2, 3, 4, 0, and click. Users can change template configurations easily. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers or Apple Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: No additional driver software is needed for Windows 98 and above; however, some versions of Windows need to be configured using Windows Hardware Wizard.

WORDQ WRITING AID SOFTWARE
WordQ is a word prediction program designed for use by individuals with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. This software works in conjunction with standard Windows and Macintosh word processors and other applications, using state-of-the-art word prediction to provide suggested word options. Text-to-speech capability provides cues. The software continuously provides word lists as the user types and combines visual and speech feedback to aid the user in appropriate word selection and in self-detecting errors. Operating on the assumption that the user's oral skills are better than written language skills, the software's speech feedback aids the user in detecting errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation that might otherwise go unnoticed.
