    The InFocus Suite is web site accessibility evaluation software designed to to aid in making Web pages accessible to people with disabilities. The suite comprises InFocus Enterprise and InFocus Desktop. InFocus Enterprise provides users with information on the ongoing compliance of their site, enabling them to assess accessibility risk and plan accessibility initiatives. InFocus Desktop provides Web developers and QA engineers an automated way to implement compliance enhancements. Features of InFocus Desktop include accessibility previews; automated testing; autofix capability; testing and fixing capabilities for all accessibility standards, including Section 508 and World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); and reporting in multiple formats, including HTML, Excel and XML. Features of InFocus Enterprise include automated monitoring, workflow and compliance project tracking, management and technical reporting, efficient spidering, integration with enterprise software, and a flexible architecture that allows customization and enhancement.

    JAWS Scripts are screen reader script sets designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. Scripts are program interfaces that facilitate the use of an application in conjunction with JAWS for Windows (see separate entry), the screen reader manufactured by Freedom Scientific. Scripts are currently available for Goldmine 6.0, Ms Publisher 2002, QuoteWerks 3.0, Quicken Expensable 98, SPSS 11.0, and Speak Freely.   1. ANDROMEDA Picture of ANDROMEDA

    Andromeda is a portable video magnifier designed for use in reading by individuals with low vision. This video magnifier has a large reading table and a TFT (thin film transistor) flat screen. It magnifies documents three to fifty times with continuous zoom and an overview mode for easy orientation. It has three focus modes (full auto-focus, push-to-focus, and manual focus) and a selection of display modes, including full color, enhanced (high contrast) black on white and white on black modes, and built-in and user-programmable semi-color modes. Line markers enable easier reading. The refresh rate of the TFT screen is 0 Herz, with no flicker. This video magnifier supports an external computer VGA video display and PAL/NTSC video inputs. It is ergonomically designed for comfortable reading, with a low-profile reading table and a tiltable monitor. POWER: Uses 100-240 volts alternating current (AC). DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 20.9 x 16.9 x 21.2 inches when set up and 7.5 x 16.5 x 17.7 inches when collapsed. The reading table surface is 13.4 inches long x 15.6 inches wide. The flat screen display measures 15 inches diagonally.

    The Clarity AF Classmate is a CCTV system designed for use by students with low vision. This system enables the user to read books and other text, view photographs, read medication bottles, view activity in the front of a classroom and work on crafts and hobbies. The built-in auto focus capability eliminates the need to adjust the focus as the height of the object being viewed changes. This portable system operates with three simple controls, offers variable contrast control, and features a camera that zooms to provide magnification from four to 38 times. The image display can be viewed in full color or in white on black. OPTIONS: A clamp mount, a carrying case, an extra-long flexible arm with mounting clamp, an LCD display, and a lens set to produce magnification up to 50 times (dependent on monitor size). DIMENSIONS: The optional display is 10.4 inches. In distance viewing, two-inch letters are magnified to 2.75 inches at 20 feet. WEIGHT: Less than 13 pounds with optional dispay and carrying case. WARRANTY: A two-year warranty is standard; an extended warranty is available.

  3. COLOR-EYE Picture of COLOR-EYE

    Color-Eye is a video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. It is a hand-sized unit that connects to a television set (not included). Users have a choice of hand-held operation or hands-free use with a flex-arm mount that can be clamped on the edge of a desk or table. This device magnifies in color with positive images only (no color reversal). Magnification ranges from 4.9 to 17 times for a seven-inch TV, nine to 32 times for a 13-inch TV, and 14 to 49 times for a 20-inch TV. It can be focused from less than one inch all the way to infinity. This means that it can be used for shaving, looking down the street, or checking the yard to see what the dog is doing. To change magnification, the user slides the camera up or down in its stand, and to focus, the user turns a lens ring. Because the unit consumes less than a watt of power per hour, there is no on/off switch. WEIGHT: The unit alone weighs eight ounces; with the flex arm and carrying case, the system weighs two pounds.

    Golden-Eye is a video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. This device magnifies in black and white only. It is a hand-sized unit that connects to a television set (not included). Users have a choice of hand-held operation or hands-free use with a flex-arm mount that can be clamped on the edge of a desk or table. Magnification ranges from 4.9 to 17 times for a 7-inch TV, nine to 32 times for a 13-inch TV, and 14 to 49 times for a 20-inch TV.     JAWS (Job Access with Speech) for Windows is a voice output screen reader program designed to read computer screens for persons who are blind or have low vision. JAWS for Windows installs its own speech synthesizer software, Eloquence for JAWS, which works with the Windows sound card and supports nine languages (U.S. and British English, Latin American and Castilian Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Finnish). Interactive talking installation makes it easy to set up without sighted assistance. All standard Windows applications, including Microsoft Office XP, are supported without the need for special configuration. Microsoft Internet Explorer is supported, including special features such as links lists, frames lists, forms mode, HTML tables, and graphic labels. A unique scripting language allows customization of nonstandard Windows applications and proprietary software, while other tools allow customization without the need to write scripts. Output is provided to most popular refreshable Braille displays in computer or Grade 2 Braille. New features in JAWS for Windows version 4.01 include support for Windows XP help balloons, support in all Windows operating systems for display settings with more than 256 colors, and automatic disabling of non-optimal visual effects. JAWS for Windows 4.01 comes with a Windows Basic Training Tutorial with over seven hours of audiocassette instruction.   6. LIBERTY COLOR Picture of LIBERTY COLOR

    The Liberty Color is a portable video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. It consists of a mouse-camera unit and a flat screen display unit with a high contrast thin-film transistor (TFT) display. The display's angle can be adjusted to enable the user to achieve an ergonomic reading position. Images can be displayed in full color photo mode, enhanced black/white or white/black mode, or in a user-programmable semi-color mode with a choice of foreground and background colors. Due to the use of TFT technology, there is no picture tube related flicker. Images can be viewed in an overview mode, which enables easy orientation, and a "text-stretch" mode, which produces more readable text. Magnification on the flat screen display ranges from five to ten times in 3:4 mode, six to 12 times in text-stretch mode, and one to five times in overview mode. When the camera unit is connected to a 17-inch VGA monitor, magnification ranges from 12.5 to 25 times (one to ten times in overview mode). This video magnifier has an integral tilt handle and carrying case. POWER: Uses nickel metal hydride rechargeable battery with low battery warning for over two hours of mobile use, or alternating current (AC) adapter. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): Display unit is 16 x 5 x 22.5 centimeters; mouse-camera unit is 56 x 110 x 50 millimeters. TFT display measures 7 inches (15 centimeters) diagonally.     MAGic is a screen magnification program designed for use by individuals with low vision. This software enlarges text up to 12 times and graphics, including Windows, up to 8 times. Other features include complete type through access; follow-the-cursor, follow-the-mouse, and attribute tracking modes; a screen location display; support for 8-, 16-, 24-, and 32-bit color; color smoothing; ability to use keystrokes to access a list of running programs and system tray items, and to bring up column and row settings, lists of cells, cells, rows, cells with content, and lists of hyperlinks and comments in Word. Additional features include interoperability with JAWS for Windows (not included; see separate entry), and keystroke control of specific functions when using high levels of magnification. The program comes with a large print manual and 120 days of unlimited call-in support from date of purchase. OPTIONS: Available with or without speech output.     OpenBook is an optical character recognition (OCR) program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This scanning and reading software enables users to convert print documents or graphic-based text into an electronic text format using optical character recognition and quality speech. When a page is placd a page in a connected scanner, OpenBook will convert it to speech and read it while displaying large print on a computer monitor. Users can customize how the document appears on the screen, including font, size, character spacing, and background/character colors. A Masking feature and highlighting help the user focus on the text being read and follow along with the speech. Bookmarks can be used to indicate and move to important locations in documents. A Find and Replace feature assists in searching and editing complex or lengthy documents. Features that help the user understand how a scanned page was originally organized and formatted are also included. Other features provide portability, including the ability to create MP3 or WAV formats with desired voice rate and pitch, save to or open files from a notetaker, emboss in Computer and Grade II Braille without the need for additional software. Print document as they appear on screen or use the defined default printer font. OpenBook files can be converted to .brf and .brl Grade II Braille formats. The software also enables users to create and save many different configurations to suit specific needs, allowing users to switch between configurations depending on the current task, preferences, or requirements. A multi-user feature enables users to share use of the software on a single personal computer. Each login name has its own personalized settings and library. OpenBook offers a choice of RealSpeak and ViaVoice text-to-speech synthesizers. RealSpeak features a natural, human-sounding voice that can help enhance the reading experience. ViaVoice provides practical and efficient speech for editing or skimming documents. OpenBook also supports most hardware speech synthesizers. Other features include a fax utility, copy function and online book search. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers running Windows, including XP.

    The PAC Mate BNS is a personal digital assistant (PDA) designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This Pocket PC device has an eight-dot braille keyboard and utilizes JAWS for Windows (see separate entry) for braille and speech output. It provides access to Windows-based desktop data and software applications, and can run Pocket PC versions of popular software programs to manage information internally or to sync up and share data with other devices. With the addition of a modem, it can be used to surf the Internet and send and receive e-mail. This device includes an Eloquence speech synthesizer, which supports many languages, with a dual channel sound card so the speech function can be used while listening to Internet broadcasts. Other features include a calculator, a linear formatting editor, a clock, and a stopwatch. A Personal Points of Interest area allows the user to save selected settings. The device has a USB port for connection with desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other devices in either host or client mode; a PC Card connection for choice of peripherals including modem, micro-drive, diskette drive, CD-ROM, and others; an IrDA port that allows the user to transfer files between this device and other PC products; and a compact Flash port for unlimited document storage.   11. ZACC Picture of ZACC

    ZACC is a desktop CCTV designed for use by individuals with low vision. This CCTV is a high-resolution full color desktop video magnifier with a ball bearing mounted X-Y table for positioning of material to be viewed. It can be used for reading text or multicolor magazines, looking at photographs, or doing hand work such as small repairs, crafts, writing cards and letters, or doing crossword puzzles. The unit is controlled with a small four-button keypad that can be conveniently placed where the user wishes. There is no focus control; focusing is automatic and instantaneous. Two buttons control the magnification, allowing the user to smoothly zoom in and out to obtain the desired magnification. Another button switches between color and black-and-white viewing modes. The fourth button switches between regular black on white and reverse image, which shows white type on a black background, for reduced glare while reading. The camera has a wide angle and can see the entire width of a business letter or magazine page. When the wide angle image is displayed on a large screen TV (27 inches or larger), users can orient themselves on the page, then zoom in to read at whatever magnification they prefer, keeping as much of the page as possible on screen. This minimizes or eliminates the need to move the page back and forth beneath the camera, making reading easier. Magnification ranges are 1.4 to 22 times for a 13-inch TV, two to 34 times for a 20-inch TV, 2.8 to 44 times for a 26-inch TV, and 3.8 to 59 times for a 35-inch TV. WEIGHT: 11 pounds with carrying case (included).
