--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 6/2011) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- HandiEye is a hands-free mouse emulator designed for use by individuals with upper extremity, severe physical, or repetetive motion disabilities or spinal cord injury. This device enables the user to smoothly and accurately control the mouse cursor simply by moving his/her head. HandiEye is comprised of infrared camera algorithms that recognize a human face and precisely track its movements, eliminating the need to attach any hardware to the user. The system uses a miniature camera with a base that can be used either as a stand or as a clip. Built-in infrared LEDs enable HandiEye to operate under any lighting conditions, including complete darkness. Auto-click (dwell) allows the system to automatically perform any mouse action when the cursor pauses for a set time, including left click, right click, double click, and drag-and-drop. Auto-Click can be disabled and enabled hands-free by selecting and unselecting one of four toolbar buttons. When combined with an on-screen keyboard (not included) HandiEye can be used for hands-free typing. The system can also operate in an absolute center mode, consistently keeping the cursor centered. HandiEye Pro offers the same features plus the ability to recognize four head gestures: left, right, up, and down. Each gesture can be assigned a corresponding action, such as mouse click, page up, enter, etc. It also provides a means of scrolling up and down a web page or a document using a special controls that appear when Auto-Click is disabled. A zoom feature enables the user to zoom in (hands-free) on the current cursor portion for more precise selection. If the zoom feature is enabled, when cursor pauses, a window with the magnified area around the cursor appears. Use an auto-click to click within the magnified window. Zoom can be enabled/disabled(hands-free) with a toolbar icon.
