  1. GAMECYCLE Picture of GAMECYCLE

The GameCycle is a hand-propelled bicycle exerciser system designed for use by people with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and other neurological, lower extremity or mobility disabilities as well as people who use wheelchairs. This system merges exercise with video games by incorporating a modified arm ergometer that interfaces with a Nintendo GameCube to allow for the control of commercially-available racing games. The GameCycle consists of a height-adjustable pair of arm crank with adjustable resistance and hand grips. A flat screen and a touchscreen controller are mounted in front of the arm cranks. The user sits or stands and turns the arm cranks to cause the vehicle in the racing game to accelerate, and steer by tilting the cranks left or right. This ergometer features sensors that record speed while turnstile sensors record direction, emulating the joystick control necessary to operate common video games. The system includes a screen and user-friendly touchscreen interface with software to facilitate set-up and ease of use. This system is compatible with a variety of video games to maximize the choice of games and enhance motivation to exercise.

  2. NATURAL-FIT Picture of NATURAL-FIT

The Natural-Fit is a hand rim designed for use on wheelchairs. This rim replaces the chair's existing hand rim and comes in two pieces: The contoured thumb area and the oval component. The combination of these two components provides a gripping surface, a specially contoured thumb rest, and dual surfaces for propulsion and braking. The system is available with rivet nut or tab mounting and attaches to standard spoke wheels with either a six-position rivet nut mount or a six-position tab mount. The thumb rest is available with an anodized finish or an optional SuperGrip Finish. DIMENSIONS: The system is available for 20-, 22-, 24-, 25- and 26-inch standard spoke wheels and 6-point mag wheels, for 24-inch 7- and 8-point mag wheels, and for Spinergy and X-Core wheels. COLOR: The anodized thumb rest and the oval component are black. DELIVERY TIME: Seven to fourteen days.

  3. SMARTWHEEL Picture of SMARTWHEEL

The SmartWheel is a wheelchair propulsion monitor designed for professional use in clinical or research settings with people who have lower extremity or mobility disabilities or spinal cord injury and others who use manual wheelchairs. This device mounts onto the wheel of a manual wheelchair and examines the ability and performance of a person to propel the wheelchair in a variety of environments. of the wheelchair user. A Wi-Fi high-speed wireless link and on-board memory allow for the collection of data from almost anywhere: in the clinic or lab, down hallways, or outside at a park. The device has an indoor wireless communication range of up to 300 feet and an outdoor range of up to 500 feet. This provides clinicians with a tool to quantify the process of wheelchair selection, fitting, and propulsion training. In research venues, this device has been used to study biomechanics and wheelchair propulsion, the efficacy of interventions, and the efficacy of wheelchair-related products and accessories. Data provided by the SmartWheel is used to compute resultant force; radial, tangential, and axial forces and moments; acceleration/rate of rise, stroke frequency per second; stroke length; velocity; and distance traveled. Features include on-board memory with a 32 megabyte (MB) FLASH MultiMedia Card (MMC) that enables data collection outside of wireless operating range, widely selectable data sampling frequency, and force and moment sensing beams with auto sensing of the SmartWheel angular position at start-up. Other features include an optical encoder, analog-to-digital conversion, and graphical support software for viewing and recording data. The unit is equipped with a half-inch axle mount compatible with most manual wheelchairs. SIZES: Fits wheelchair wheels with diameters of 22, 24, 25 or 26 inches. POWER: Uses 9-Volt rechargeable or alkaline batteries. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A personal computer running Windows 2000 or XP with a 1 GigaHertz (GHz )Pentium III or faster processor (or equivalent), Ethernet network interface card dedicated to SMARTWheel, and a wireless access point connection. Excel or Matlab is recommended for viewing and manipulating data.
