  1. VOICE OF DAISY (VOD) Picture of VOICE OF DAISY (VOD)

Voice of DAISY (VOD) is a digital talking book player program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This application (or app) enables an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to function as a voice output electronic book reader for books in the standard DAISY formats. The two formats that can be played with VOD are: DAISY 2.02 compliant audio and NCC only, and DAISY 2.02 compliant audio and full text. VOD cannot play DAISY digital talking books that are encrypted for copyright protection. To transfer a book to the mobile device, the selected DAISY digital talking books should be compiled into a single file in the zip format and transferred to VOD via iTunes USB transfer function. The user can change play speed from 0.5 to 2.5 times, change play pitch from 0.8 to 1.2 times, set time between play, and jump to non-consecutive pages using the page list. VOD will also display the table of contents (TOC) and allow the user to navigate the book using the TOC levels. The app automatically memorizes the position where the last play ended, and it allows the user to create bookmarks. It also optimizes the display to align the playing string in the center of the screen. Available languages are English and Japanese. COMPATIBILITY: For use with the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple iOS 3.2 or later.
