  1. SMART AUDIO Picture of SMART AUDIO

    The SMART Audio classroom amplification system is an infrared amplification system designed for use by teachers working with children who are hard of hearing or have attention deficit disorder (ADD) or related conditions. The system is intended to foster student engagement by evenly distributing sound throughout the classroom, helping students focus on lessons with fewer distractions. SMART Audio comes with a wireless infrared microphone, four wall- or ceiling-mounted speakers, a ceiling-mounted room module that combines an amplifier and infrared sensor, and a control unit that can be connected to a computer via a USB connection. The system can be integrated with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software and SMART Board interactive white board (see separate entry). It also connects to MP3 players, DVD players and other devices to play the audio portion of multimedia material and to a school's existing network infrastructure to broadcast school-wide announcements. Audio for up to five inputs can be adjusted without interruption by accessing the system directly from within the lesson. OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES: Microphone with a headpiece; second infrared microphone for student use; and infrared expansion sensors that increase the microphone coverage for larger classrooms.     The SMART Board 885ix Interactive Whiteboard System is a touch screen designed for use by children with learning, cognitive, developmental, fine motor, hearing or upper extremity disabilities. It projects a computer display on a large white borad and enables one or two users to instantly and easily interact with the display's content using their fingers or a pen as a mouse. The integrated system combines an interactive whiteboard with an ultra-short-throw projector for minimal shadows and glare. The system comes with an extended control panel (ECP) that a teacher can use to manage all classroom technology products from the front of the classroom. It also features a SMART UX60 projector with remote control, a SMART Board interactive whiteboard, and a Modular Pen Tray. Two users can work on lesson activities at the same time anywhere on the interactive whiteboard without having to switch into a separate multiuser mode or work in a confined area. Each user can use a finger or a pen to simultaneously write, draw, perform mouse functions, erase and manipulate content with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software, or access other applications in the host computer. The system's camera can identify when the user switches between using a finger, pen and eraser. The user can also write with a pen, erase with a palm, and move objects with a finger without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.     The SMART Document Camera is a computer display accessory and video magnifier designed for use by teachers working with children with learning, cognitive or developmental disabilities or low vision. The system uses a high-resolution video camera to display clear and detailed images on a computer screen. The user can hold physical objects under the camera and display them on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard (see separate entry), or use the included Mixed Reality Tools for in-depth exploration of 3D content. The user can also capture images and transform them into interactive content anytime during a lesson with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software (not included), access and control the document camera from a menu inside the software, and write over images in digital ink or save them in the Gallery for later use. The system can be connected to other classroom technology products such as projectors, monitors, and flat-panel displays. The 1.3 megapixels camera features 1280 x 1024 image resolution, 5.2x optical and 8.0x digital zoom, and image auto focus and brightness. The SMART Document Camera folds for storage.     The SMART Response LE is a wireless student response system and test interpretation and report program designed for use by children with communication, learning, speech or fine motor disabilities. This system features wireless remotes with large LCD screens, big buttons and a range of up to 100 feet; a receiver that connects to a computer using a USB connection and can either be mounted on a wall or placed on a desk; and assessment software that integrates with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. Students use the remotes to answer questions, receive instant feedback and stay involved in lessons. Teachers create true-or-false, yes-or-no, or multiple choice questions using SMART Notebook software, and each answer automatically corresponds to one of the five buttons on the remotes. The buttons are green, red, blue, yellow and purple, and each button is labeled with a different white shape on each button as a simple label. When students respond to questions, the software summarizes the results in a pie chart or bar graph for everyone in the room to see. The system also allows students to respond anonymously. Teachers can use the built-in gradebook to access reports and track student performance; and use questions from third-party question banks or import questions from other software programs. This system is available with 12, 18, 24 and 32 remotes. A carrying case for all remotes is included. COMPATIBILITY: IBM PC and Apple Macintosh computers.     The SMART Table interactive learning center is a touch screen and educational aid designed for use by children with learning, cognitive, fine motor or developmental disabilities. This multitouch, multiuser system is designed to encourage collaboration, consensus building and problem solving. The SMART Table is large touch screen mounted on a cabinet so it lays flat horizontally at a height that makes it easily viewed and used by children. It is intended to provide students with a gathering place to explore digital lessons, play educational games and work together on interactive learning activities. The system comes with a collection of eight applications, and each one comes with default activities that demonstrate how the application can be used. These activities help students learn age-appropriate skills, such as reading and counting, through collaboration and critical thinking. New applications and ready-made lesson activities can be downloaded, and customized new activities can be created with SMART Table Toolkit. The applications include: Multiple Choice, HotSpots, HotSpaces, Paint, Media, Addition, Puzzle and Addition Plus. The SMART Table incorportates Wi-Fi wireless networking technology to connect to other computers and devices, including the SMART Document Camera (see separate entry). It has an integrated stereo sound system, and lockable casters so it can be moved. COMPATIBILITY: IBM PC and compatible computers or Apple Macintosh.
