BRAILLE DESK SLATE (MODELS 1-00030-00 & 1-00060-00)

(Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Desk Slates and Styluses, models 1-00030-00 and 1-00060-00, are designed for Braille writing for individuals who are visually impaired. These slates provide a stiff, flat writing surface. The boards are made of wood and the slates are made of metal. A hinged clamp at the top of the board holds the paper in position. Small round pegs are mounted on the back of the slate and fit into the grooves on both sides of the board. After the first four lines of writing are completed, the slate is lifted and moved toward the user to be placed in the next set of grooves, etc. Two sizes are available: one with a 41-cell per line slate (no. 1-00030-00) and one with a 27-cell per line slate (no. 1-00060-00). DIMENSIONS: 27-cell board is 7 x 12.25 inches; 41-cell board is 10.25 x 12.25 inches.
