LIBERTY CANE
The Liberty Cane is a straight cane designed for use by indsividuals with lower extremity, walking, or balance disabilities. This cane is comprised of three components rigidly bonded together: the handle, the shaft, and the foot. The shaft is made of aircraft aluminum. The handle is ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip, has two storage areas, and accommodates a wrist strap. The rear of the handle houses an Assist Pin that can be removed from the handle and inserted into an opening in the shaft 17.5 inches above the foot (the same height as a standard chair). This is designed to give the user additional leverage for independently returning to a standing position after a fall. A twist and pull of the knob frees the Assist Pin from the handle. The cane shaft is grooved to guide the Assist Pin into the shaft. The foot has a two-part design with a top and a rubber bottom to help prevent slipping and to keep the foot from becoming caught under self-closing doors. OPTIONS: High intensity light source/audible alarm, cellular telephone (emergency call feature set, global positioning satellite (GPS) tracker (with software for a home PC or Laptop), and a universal car door key fob (each unit is sold separately and fits in the handle storage compartment). DIMENSIONS: Standard cane lengths are available in 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 or 37 inches. Custom sizes are available. CAPACITY: 500 pounds. WEIGHT: 20 ounces.
