IVOTRONIC TOUCH SCREEN VOTING SYSTEM WITH AUDIO BALLOT FEATURE
The iVotronic Touch Screen Voting System with Audio Ballot Feature is a voice output voting machine designed for use by voters who are blind or have low vision. The voice output feature presents both general use instructions and ballot choices to the voter in a human voice (not digitally synthesized) through headphones attached to the iVotronic unit. The voter puts on the audio headset provided with the unit, and the ballot is activated by inserting the ballot activator cartridge into the unit. Voter selections are prompted and confirmed throughout the entire voting process via audio cues. As the voter makes ballot choices by pressing braille-embossed diamond-shaped buttons, the voice confirms the name of each candidate or ballot option chosen. Voters may change candidate selections by first scrolling through the ballot using the up and down arrow buttons, and then pressing the diamond-shaped button to select a new candidate. As each new ballot selection is made, the voterÆs choice is confirmed by an Audio Ballot voice, and the voter is informed that the previous choice has been de-selected. As a result, the voter always knows exactly which candidate has been selected. The iVotronic also prevents ôover-votingö by ensuring that no more than the allowable number of candidates are selected for each office.
