NUMBER WORKS, THE
The Number Works is a math skills tutorial program designed for use by children with cognitive or learning disabilities. Full of cranky old machines that barely work, The Number Works Factory needs to get working again. As students build math skills, they repair the machines. Along the way, they enlist the help of UNIT the robot and his friend the mouse. Activities focus on place value and ordering numbers, approximation, addition of two-digit numbers, subtraction of two-digit numbers, addition and subtraction as inverses, number patterns, multiplication and times tables, division facts and remainders, fractions (halves, quarters, thirds, and fifths), negative numbers, simple decimals, and coordinates.
