Picture of TOUCHFREE SWITCH The TouchFree Switch is a mouse emulator designed for use by children and adults with upper extremity disabilities. This device pairs a digital video camera with easy-to-use switch software to enable a designated body movement to trigger a mouse click without having to touch the device or apply pressure. The digital camera can be tailored to recognize almost any movement as a mouse click and it can be positioned wherever needed to detect the motion; for instance, it can be placed on the monitor to recognize a head shake, on the table to recognize a hand movement, or on the floor to recognize a toe tap. The unit provides optional audible and visual feedback to cue users that a successful mouse click has been triggered. The system includes a Macintosh/Windows software CD-ROM and a Macintosh or Windows compatible video cmera. Installation requires installing the camera, following the software set-up procedure, and selecting the motion for the computer to recognize as a mouse click. The unit is compatible with a broad range of single-switch scanning software. COMPATIBILITY: Systems are available for use with Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The Macintosh system requires USB-equipped Macintosh computer, operating system 8.5 or higher, G3 iMac or better, hard drive with 10 megabytes (MB) free space, 32 MB RAM, a 640 x 480 256-color monitor, and a CD-ROM drive. The Windows version requires a USB-ready personal computer, Windows 95 (OSR2) or Windows 98, a Pentium 166 or better processor, a hard disk with 10 MB free space, 32 MB RAM, Super VGA graphics, a 640x480 256-color monitor, and a CD-ROM.
