--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 09/2010) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Chairman MPS is a powered wheelchair designed for use by children and adults with mobility disabilities. FRAME: This power-base chair has a non-folding steel frame. The frame is 41.75 inches long and 25.5 inches wide. The chair comes standard in black with graphite gray accents; black with red, purple, or royal blue accents is available. CONTROLS: Programmable controller, remote swing-away joystick with a choice of right or left mounting, and membrane switch for power features are standard. Center mounting, a retractable joystick, an extended holder, DM60 programmer for the controller, and a toggle switch for power features are optional. Adapted driving controls such as a chin control, head control, and sip-and-puff are available. FWD: Front wheel drive with a low center of gravity. SEAT: The standard MPS seat has a solid seat pan with adjustable depth and width and a manual reclining back. The seat width and depth adjust from 16 to 20 inches. The backrest height adjusts from 17 to 25 inches and the width adjusts from 16 to 20 inches. Options include a headrest, calf supports, thigh supports, and seatbelts. The backrest angle adjusts from 90 to 115 degrees. POWER TILT: A 45-degree MPS power tilt seat is available. SEAT ELEVATOR: A power seat elevator is available. CUSHION: Available. UPHOLSTERY: The backrest features tension-adjustable sling upholstery. Leatherette upholstery is optional. ARMRESTS: Removable flip-up, adjustable armrests are standard. Adjustable height armrests are available. Standard armrest pads are 3 x 11 inches. A variety of other sizes are available and may be ordered in different sizes for each side. BRAKES: Electronic. CASTERS: 2 x 8 inch rear casters are standard and double rear casters are available. WHEELS: 3 x 14 inch front drive wheels. FOOTRESTS: Removable, height- and angle-adjustable footrests with two-piece footplates are standard. OPTIONS: Attendant control, push handles lights and horn, and ventilator tray. POWER: Uses two group 24 gel batteries. The charger is included. SPEEDS: A speed limiter dial is standard. Programmable electronics allow rates of acceleration, deceleration, and forward, reverse and turning speeds to be programmed. Maximum forward speed is 4.5 miles per hour. CAPACITY: 220 pounds is standard; an optional heavy-duty package increases the capacity to 260 pounds (not available with all options). WEIGHT: 285 pounds without batteries. WARRANTY: Lifetime warranty on chassis and a two-year warranty on electronics.
