CAST
--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- CAST is a program that uses voice input to provide speech impaired individuals with a means of improving pronunciation of targets. CAST analyzes targets spoken by the user, and matches them with pre- programmed target phonemes. The program takes the form of a video game( s): the user moves through the game based on the quality of responses. If the phoneme given by the user does not adequately match the target, the program does not respond. A target can be a phoneme, word, or short phrase. CAST requires an IntroVoice speech recognition module and microphone; this module is available for 1 week trial usage from R.J. Cooper. The software is distributed as shareware; after ten free trial uses, the user must call the manufacturer to arrange payment and receive a password that enables continued use of the disk. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Apple II computers.
