The SCAI Instrument: Measuring Costs of Individual Assistive Technology Programmes

By Andrich, Renzo; Technology and Disability, Vol. 14, No. 3, pp. 95-99
Publication Date: 2002

Article describing the SIVA Cost Analysis (SCAI) instrument, which is a tool designed to help clinicians estimate the provision of assistive technology (AT) solutions to individual users. Use of the instrument involves three steps: (1) describing the objectives of the individual AT program, (2) establishing the sequence and the timing of all the interventions that form the program, and (3) compiling a cost calculation table for each AT solution. Current and future applications of the instrument are discussed.
