Occupational Therapy and Clicker 4
By Hernold, Marina; Coville, Betsy; ConnSENSE Bulletin, Vol. 3, No. 5Publication Date: January 2001
Article reviews the Clicker 4 software program, which has provided occupational therapists with a very powerful and versatile medium for attaining computer access. The program has provided a breakthrough for users with communication impairments, as they can be provided with access to an output medium, both in voice output and written format. Careful programming can provide a while who cannot speak with a large supply of words and phrases that can be used in everyday expressions. Children with cognitive impairments can have the written word supplemented with pictures, or have words in the cell instead of letters. Children with visual impairments can have the items as large as necessary, while sound clues can help them navigate their way through the grids.
