Amputee Surfer Launches Association

By Challenge, Vol. 8, No. 1, p. 8
Publication Date: Summer 2003

Article discusses the exploits of Association of Amputee Surfers founder Rodney Roller, who won the men’s division of the Oceano Classic Surf Contest in Southern California more than a decade after a right below-knee amputation. Roller uses a surfing prosthesis that features a black carbon fiber knee cup and interchangeable prosthetic feet. He wears the device for competitions and to teach fellow amputees how to surf.
