Stranded!

By Mammosser, Deborah; PN: Paraplegia News, Vol. 58, No. 1, p. 66
Publication Date: January 2004

Article suggests a need for roadside assistance for people who use power wheelchairs and scooters. The author contends that there must be a means to provide an economical and efficient roadside service for people who use powered mobility devices, as these devices are just as prone to mechanical problems as automobiles. The difference is, when wheelchairs and scooters malfunction, drivers are exposed to the elements, which can adversely affect health and well-being. The situation is compounded by the construction of roads and sidewalks; the sidewalks themselves; and other environmental hazards.
