Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Article discusses inconveniences in air travel faced by people who use assistive devices such as wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, hydraulic lift seats, or canes. The author contends that the traveler should educate him or herself on their rights regarding accessibility and travel policy. The United States Department of Transportation has published a fact sheet about air travelers with disabilities, which lists steps taken to ensure that security requirements preserve and respect the civil rights of people with disabilities. The highlights of the fact sheet are outlined for the reader.
