Project Mobility

By Sports 'N Spokes, Vol. 29, No. 6, p. 29
Publication Date: November 2003

Article discusses the Mobility Project, which aims to collect used wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes and other mobility equipment from people and various organizations in the United States. The group then has these items renovated so that they can be donated to people in developing countries who lack the financial resources to purchase the items themselves. The Mobility Project also hosts sports and recreation clinics in the communities where donations are made. The recipients learn how to push, perform wheelies, navigate stairs, and to play sports such as tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Sports chairs and equipment are also collected for such activities. Contact information for the Mobility Project is provided.
