Read & Write for Mac

Article provides a review of Read & Write for Macintosh from TextHELP Systems, Ltd., which is a voice output word processor for students with learning disabilities that provides writing support with text-to-speech, word prediction, and dictionary features. The Macintosh version is easy to install, and features a user-friendly toolbar that allows for easy access to spell checking, homophones, dictionary, text-to-speech and word processing features. A variety of voices are available for the text-to-speech option, with a wide range of speech rates and pitches for the user to choose from. Text is highlighted as it is spoken, which provides added support for the user who benefits from hearing as well as seeing the text as it is written.
