Using WiFi Technology for Children With Unilateral Losses

By Scholl, Jacqueline Rogers, MS; Hearing Review, Vol. 12, No. 5, pp. 44-46
Publication Date: May 2005

Article discusses the use of wireless fidelity (WiFi) technology for children with unilateral hearing loss. The author discusses his experience in fitting a 13-year-old boy with a profound hearing loss in his left ear and a mild-to-severe sloping sensorineural hearing loss in his right hear. A Bilateral Contralateral Routing of Signal hearing aid with WiFi technology was ultimately prescribed, while the author advocates for the early prescription of such devices for children and even infants. The author contends that such devices can help to combat potential academic failure and low self-esteem.
