eClipseWriter Enables Users to Create Their Own Accessible Media

By VisionConnection,
Publication Date: January 2005

Article discusses the eClipseWriter from Innovative Rehabilitation Technology, Incorporated, which is a software program that enables the user to convert any electronic text document into a digital talking book. Digital talking books, often recorded on compact disks, allow people with vision or learning disabilities to listen to electronic text out loud. They are often played on computers or specialized digital talking book players that allow the user to search and locate chapters, subchapters, paragraphs, and phrases. People with learning disabilities can benefit greatly from hearing text out loud, as digital talking books can be powerful learning and comprehension tools.
