By VisionConnection,
Publication Date: June 2005

Article discusses the BraillNote PK from Pulse Data International, which weighs less than 1 pound and has dimensions of 6.8 by 3.6 by 1.3 inches, making it the smallest handheld Braille device in the world. Seven key device features are listed: (1) automatic compatibility between all Braille formats and other print-based word processing formats, including Microsoft Word, (2) support for all major POP3 e-mail services, which makes it easy for the user to manage e-mail for business and personal activities on the same device, (3) a day planner that works in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook, (4) an address list, (5) a media player for audio books, (6) over thirty hours of battery life, and (7) a scientific calculator and stopwatch. These features make the device useful for people with visual disabilities for both business and recreational purposes.
