Signing Time Videos

By Bowers, R. Elizabeth; Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities, Vol. 18, No. 4, p. 269
Publication Date: Winter 2003

Article provides a review of Signing Time videos from Two Little Hands Productions, which is a series of children’s sign language videos that have implications for children with autism spectrum disorder. The videos feature non-distracting, colorful images of children and adults communicating via sign language by using beginning words young children will usually start with. The author contends that the most effective characteristic of the Signing Time videos is that signs are presented in a highly visual format, with clear modeling to facilitate children’s replication. The videos are ultimately recommended, while more information can be found on the Signing Time website (http://www.signingtime.com).
