By Wehmeyer, Michael L.; Smith, Sean J.; Journal of Special Education Technology, Vol. 19, No. 4, pp. 5-6
Publication Date: Fall 2004

Article provides an introduction to the special issue, which focuses on the use of assistive technology by students with intellectual disabilities. The authors contend that the focus on technology for people with intellectual disabilities and mental retardation is a fairly recent phenomenon, though technology will play a primary role in ensuring universal access to learning for all students.
