National Literacy Braille Competency Test: New Partnerships, New Possibilities

Article discusses the process of developing a test to determine whether teachers of children and adults with visual disabilities have truly mastered the Braille Code. The National Library Service has asked the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) to finish development of the National Literacy Braille Competency Test, and to provide a certification process for Braille educators. The author contends that this assessment will provide the field with a feasible method to determine if a teacher can read and write Braille on a high level.
