Taking the Guesswork Out of Fittings

By Quilter, Megan, MS; Hearing Review, Vol. 13, No. 6, pp. 56-60
Publication Date: June 2006

Article focuses on the AURICAL Visible Speech system from GN Otometrics, which was created to enhance the client counseling process for audiologists. The system includes a wireless SpeechLink 100 binaural measurement unit and NOAH-Compatible Visible Speech software, as well as Bluetooth wireless technology for data transmission. The AURICAL Visible Speech systems uses speech as a stimulus for real ear measurements, as the system makes the fitting process visible to the client on-screen. This allows the client to see his or her hearing instrument at work. The author contends that a visible speech program can provide clients and their families with a more meaningful understanding of the benefits of all categories of hearing instruments.
