Suspended Platform

By Physical Therapy Products: SOAP Notes,
Publication Date: January 2007

Article discusses the ShuttleBalance suspended platform from Contemporary Design Company, which is a physical therapy training platform. The platform suspension yields an unstable surface, which causes clients to use stabilizing muscles throughout the body. Exercises can be changed and progressed to meet therapeutic goals. For example, programs designed for fall prevention among older adults would use wide placement of the ropes under the platform, which would hold it only a few inches over the ground. The client could progress from a bilateral to a unilateral stance, and with hands holding the frame to holding no support at all. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Contemporary Design Company (http://www.shuttlesystems.com) for further information.
