Obesity and Metabolic Disorders in Adults With Lower Limb Amputation

This study examined weight gains and metabolic disorders experienced by adults who have undergone lower limb amputations. A relation between the level of amputation and obesity progression is developed and the degree of atherosclerotic vascular disease and coronary disease examined. The author describes various exercise regimens developed to improve the fitness level and reduce the weight of this group. Exercises included aerobics, exercise machines and swimming. Tables and graphs illustrate the results.
