Technical Standards for Wheelchair Seat Cushions Under Development

Article on draft standards for wheelchair seat cushions currently under development by the RESNA Technical Standards Working Group on Tissue Integrity Management. The draft standard specifies apparatus, test methods, and disclosure requirements for seat cushions intended to maintain tissue integrity and prevent tissue trauma. The article discusses how the standard will be used and its impact on the field of wheelchair seating. The article also discusses what part of the work on the standard has been completed to date and what remains to be done.
