By Closing the Gap, Vol. 21, No. 5, pp. 6-7
Publication Date: December 2002/January 2003

Article on Kurzweil 3000 Version 7, which is a multisensory tool for reading support, with visual and auditory feedback, designed for use by individuals with learning disabilities. Kurzweil 3000 is useful for those who have difficulty reading text on a computer screen, textbook, or magazine. It offers scanning and reading applications that let the user convert printed text into audio feedback with relative ease. Because of its Optical Character Recognition engine, Kurzweil 3000 is capable of reproducing text on screen, with pictures, as it appears on paper. It also helps reading by highlighting both the line and word as it is read.
