By Hatley, Mary Lou; Minnick, Sidney; Marfilius, Scott; Closing the Gap, Vol. 22, No. 1, pp. 1, 19
Publication Date: April/May 2003

Article discussing New Jersey’s Plainfield School District's goal to bridge the gap between general and special education through Balanced Literacy Workshops. Balanced Literacy Workshops serve as an introduction to using assistive technology in a literary curriculum. The presenters focused on hands-on training with products such as The Laser PC6 (a portable word processor), digital cameras, and eBooks. The Balanced Literacy workshops were finalized with a planning day to support literacy instruction for all students using a "Planning Pyramid," which is diagrammed in the article.
