Cost-Benefit Analysis of Assistive Technology to Support Independence for People With Dementia - Part 2: Results From Employing the ENABLE Cost-Benefit Model in Practice

Paper is the second in a two-part series that focuses on cost-benefit analysis in assistive technology (AT). The second installment sees the authors discuss the results of an analysis of technology designed to support independence for people with dementia, including: (1) a cooker monitor, (2) object locator, (3) picture telephone, and (4) medicine reminder. The methodology was found to support the assessment of socioeconomic costs of AT at both the individual and societal levels. The authors contend that so long as low cost AT has a positive impact on people’s lives, it should be incorporated into health plans for people with dementia and their families.
