Furniture For the Elderly

Article discusses the Czech and German Eureka E! 3210 Specifurn project, which has developed line of furniture to make life and leisure easier for older adults and people with disabilities. The designs are suitable for use in the homes of older adults, public urban spaces, swimming pools, and railway stations. Products include accessible wardrobes, couches, chairs, bedroom furniture, tables, and kitchen furniture. Chairs include standard chairs and semi-armchairs, chairs with changeable positions, and armchairs with extensive features, including rubberized or elastic handholds that ensure safety against possible falls. Other designs include removable upholstery for easy cleaning, suitable shaping of arm handles, and mechanisms for changing furniture configuration.
