Bates Technical College Offers Hearing Instrument Technology Program

Article describes the Hearing Instrument Technology Program, an associate degree program offered at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. Curriculum includes professional terminology, anatomy, physiology, fitting and servicing hearing aids, and patient education. Graduates completing the program are prepared to take the Washington state hearing aid fitter/dispenser licensing exam. The specialized clinic/classroom configuration allows for simultaneous patient testing, student training, and observation. The program averages an enrollment of 15 students at a time, with an estimated program completion time of 18 months.
