Neuromonics Provides Relief for Veterans Suffering from Tinnitus

By Hearing Review - The Insider,
Publication Date: July 28, 2011

Article discusses treatment for tinnitus experienced by armed forces veterans using the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment (NTT). NTT uses the Neuromonics Oasis device, which resembles a small consumer music player. The device works by desensitizing the patient’s tinnitus perception, also referred to as the sensation of a ringing in the ears. The patient wears the device for a few hours per day, listening to soothing music that is customized to each person’s hearing and tinnitus profile. According to the manufacturer, 90 percent of patients who use the NTT experience a significant reduction in tinnitus, and over 1,100 military personnel have experienced relief through use of the Oasis device and NTT. The article describes the cases of two war veterans who were successfully treated with the technology.
