AbleData's Privacy Policy

This policy briefly explains how the ABLEDATA staff will handle information we learn about you from your visit to our site. The information we receive about you depends upon what you do when visiting our site.

If you visit our site to read or download information, such as information on assistive products, we collect and store only the following information about you:

  • the name of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com, if you are connecting from an America Online account, or duke.edu if you are connecting from Duke University's domain)
  • the geographic location of your domain (e.g., Reston, Virginia for aol.com)
  • the date and time you access and exit our site
  • the pages that you visit while at our site
  • the Internet address of the site from which you linked directly to our site.

We use this information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

Contacting ABLEDATA via Email

If you contact us via electronic mail, we may use your return e-mail address to answer your mail; however, such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties. Likewise, any other information received in an e-mail is never shared with, or transferred to, any other party.

Our Commitment to Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we maintain all appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure any information we collect online.

MyABLEDATA

Anyone registering on the MyABLEDATA feature of the site will be asked to provide an email address, a password, and their state of residence. We maintain this information on a secure database that will not be shared with any other public or private organization or company.

Classified Advertisements

If you submit a classified advertisement (for example, "For Sale" or "Help Wanted") to be posted on ABLEDATA, we will post all of the contact information that you include in the submission. We require you to include at least one type of contact information (such as an email address or telephone number) in your ad, and we encourage to include as much information as your feel comfortable providing to facilitate contact between you and interested parties.

Consumer Forum

We require that all people submitting a product review to the Consumer Forum first register on MyABLEDATA. If you submit a product review, we will post your name and hometown with the review unless you indicate that you would rather not have such information posted for public viewing. It is our policy to share the review of a given product with that product's manufacturer in order to provide the company with the opportunity to reply to the comment; however, we will remove all information identifying the author of the review before forwarding it to the manufacturer.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at the ABLEDATA site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our site is structured to attract anyone under 13.

Should you have other questions or concerns about our privacy policies, please call us at 800-227-0216 or send us an e-mail at abledata@macrointernational.com.
