--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 12/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Galaxy Bath is an accessible bathtub designed to allow wheelchair users to laterally transfer into the tub without the use of a lift and assisted transfer with portable lifts due to the tub's relatively low height. The Galaxy Bath is also a whirlpool unit designed to provide hydrotherapy for the lower torso and extremities. The self-contained unit can be used in residential or clinical settings. BATH FEATURES: The tub features a "car door" style side opening, four double-hand grab bars positioned around the bath shell, and a built-in bench-style seat that is the approximate height of most wheelchairs. The unit's low height not only aids in transfer, but in attended bathing situations since the caregiver could attend the occupant from a seated position. The door construction includes a soap dish and a handle to allow the occupant to close and secure the door. The door seal is made of neoprene foam, and can be removed and replaced quickly for cleaning or renewal. Due to the acrylic material used in the construction of the interior shell of the bathtub, it is always warmer to the touch than porcelain or ceramic tubs. WHIRLPOOL FEATURES: The unit has three hydrotherapy jets; an adjustable air valve varies the energy level and outflow of the jets. Activation of the hydrotherapy feature is controlled by an air switch at the occupant's left elbow. MATERIALS: Bath shell is made of molded acrylic with fiberglass and structural reinforcement in critical load areas; skirt is fiberglass with acrylic finish; fittings are chrome, stainless steel, and nylon; jet harness is constructed of PVC fittings from pump case to jets and suction. WATER CAPACITY: 40 gallons full to overflow with a 150-pound occupant. DIMENSIONS: Height is 31.5 inches, overall width is 36 inches, length measures 60 7/16 inches. WEIGHT: Approximately 200 pounds empty; 645 pounds filled with water and including a 150-pound occupant. COLORS: Champagne, white, or burgundy/champagne. INSTALLATION: The Galaxy Bath can be installed using existing plumbing and supply fixtures. WARRANTY: 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship; warranty excludes damage from improper installation or misuse.
